Ok! So we had a great couple of nights, where our little bird woke up every 3.5 hours to eat. It was great. I'm actually getting closer to writing my PIF. I've sat down several times and looked at the numerous Word docs open on my computer! This is good. I'm very encouraged.
We even went to our weekly dinner party with her, and she did just fine with multiple bottles. Today, she's in the living room with her dad. I may leave the house after the next feeding, and go to Barnes&Noble to procrastinate there. Its hard, because she's so dependent on me for feeding, and also daddy is in the middle of finals, so I don't want to stress him out. But as long as I avoid worrying about the dishes (they'll get done today, b/c people might be coming over), I think we can all be happy today.

Waiting
Maewynn is 3 weeks now. We've survived that long, and now I've got just enough breathing room to do some (limited) reflection. Also, I need to really finish my PIF, so I'll tell myself that this is good writing practice, when really its just some good ol' fashioned procrastination.
I am supposed to put my thoughts down in a journal anyway, and seeing how I've already created a nice little blog, I'll use what I've got.
Today's entry is titled waiting, because that is what I do now. I am a waitress. I am responsible for the feeding of this small child. And I can't just feed her anything. I feed her with my own body. I cannot take a break. "But Rachel, why don't you just pump what you need and bottle feed the baby?" Oh, if only it were that easy. The amount of hassle it is to sterilize, pump, label, store, reheat, feed, repeat... I feel like I'll get the hang of it eventually, but I haven't just yet.
So when I'm done "waiting" on her, I find myself "waiting" for the next thing she needs. The funny thing is that we've actually got her on a reasonable schedule at night, so I look forward to getting my 3 2-hour naps! Its the day that has become exhausting. A tug-of-war between wanting to take care of my baby, wanting to take a 10-hour nap, and wanting to catch up on what I've deemed "real life" work. What I end up doing is a little of all of it, accomplishing very little, and getting very little r and r.
